Marcal has recycled paper for over 50 years to produce high quality,
innovative tissue products from recycled fibers. The firm has now
developed a new product line made from the natural clay and unusable
fibers that are removed during the recycling process.
This recycled co-product is called Kaofin® Fiber clay.
A specially developed manufacturing process allows Marcal to
recapture the fiber and mineral materials that wash out of the
magazines and other glossy coated waste paper processed by Marcal. Most
of the fiber is used to produce high quality Marcal towel, napkin,
facial and bath tissue products. The clay and some fine cellulosic
fibers which are too small for reformation into paper products are
captured, processed, and transformed into Kaofin® co-products.
Kaofin® granulate and fiber cake products can be used in several
earth works engineering, agricultural and industrial applications
including:
soils and compost blending
retention pond liner
alternative daily landfill cover
chemical solidification
mine reclamation ingredient
cement additive
animal bedding manufacturing
Marcal does NOT believe in waste!
