Job Summary:

Responsible for performing all phases of electrical & instrumentation control maintenance throughout the plant safely and effectively.

Principal Responsibilities:      

• Perform installation of new or replacement electrical and instrumentation equipment, as well as electrical construction.

• Locate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical & instrumentation and control system malfunctions. Document problems and results and report them to Group Leader.

• Follow standard safety procedures, correct safety, and environmental hazards, and report them to the appropriate supervisor.

• Complete necessarily training programs within the time frame allowed.

  • Maintain a clean work area at all times.
  • Maintain daily work log with work descriptions, time entry, and any additional information requested by supervisor.
  • Be available to work overtime on emergency base or as directed by the supervisor.

• Respond to call-ins for emergency repair work and perform on call duty based on rotational schedule or as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 10+ years work experience as an electrician, preferably in a paper mill or industrial setting.

· Proficient knowledge of Electrical & Instrumentation; electrical equipment functioning; electrical operating procedures and standards to support cost effective, safe and efficient equipment and instrumentation maintenance, repair.

· Basic knowledge of Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic equipment to support safe and efficient minor equipment repair.

· Knowledge of federal, state, and local electric codes and environmental permit regulations pertaining to electrical & instrumentation functioning.

· Knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, local and company safety procedures and ability to execute same.

· Proficient knowledge and understanding of the occupational hazards connected with

general plant practices with emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance.

· Ability to read, comprehend, and work from electrical and electronic blueprints.

· Ability to understand verbal & written instructions in English including, but not limited to the ability to read and comprehend instruction manuals, instruction sheets, technical data, work orders, training manuals, and other verbal/computer based training.

· Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Essential Functions:

· Ability to access confined spaces thru standard man ways.

· Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations.

· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

· Ability to move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, and uneven surfaces.

· Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Equipment Used:

  • Operate manual and/or power hand tools and power equipment (i.e. industrial forklift and man lift) in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate on the radio during noise interference.  
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions that may require the use of company-provided personal protective equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $46.00 per hour

Mill Manager – Putney, VT

Marcal Paper, located in Putney, VT is searching for a Mill Manager to join our team!

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Putney Mill and all departments associated with it. As safety is our primary concern, this role works closely with the safety manager to ensure our facility is as safe as it can, and our employees are well trained in safety and operations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Reporting to this Leader is the Mill Superintendent, Maintenance Lead, Mill Production Leads and all Mill employees.
  • This person is responsible for the day-2-day operations of the Mill in all respects including but not limited to production, maintenance, supervision and evaluation of employees, and works collaboratively with the Vermont Director of Operations, Purchasing Manager, Human Resources and Finance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Experience in tracking costs associated with utilities, fiber, labor, energy, and chemicals at the Mill is required.
  • Essential is the planning of machinery projects, down-time and project management. To that end, the incumbent will develop the Superintendent for future responsibilities.
  • In conjunction with the Director, this person initiates and delivers on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to deliver manufacturing and P&L commitments.
  • This person will work with all manufacturing, purchasing, and sales and distribution teams to ensure consistent finished goods are delivered to customers as committed.
  • Part of Safety encompasses the safe operations and commitment to housekeeping and cleanliness, while operating to constantly improve quality of Fiber operations and the facility overall.
  • Responsible for mill accountabilities including safety, compliance, quality, productivity & cost.
  • Manage fiber yield management, chemical costs and overall aggressive cost management.
  • Manage teams in a manner that supports teamwork and development.
  • Assist in developing the annual budget, approve and monitor expenditures, report variances to budget.
  • Drives continuous improvement activities to generate improvement in KPI’s, savings and efficiencies.
  • Aligned with Purchasing on optimal uses and buying of waste-paper.

  • Manages projects efficiently, on-time, within budget.
  • Working knowledge and application of chemistry, de-inking and bleaching.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. degree in engineering or the equivalent and related background
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in operations preferred with 5 years’ of experience in all aspects of the paper mills also preferred.
  • Demonstrated management experience and exhibited leadership skills

Plant Controller – Putney, VT

Position

SUMMARY

The Plant Controller reports directly to the CFO and partners with operational leaders at the Plant and Corporate to oversee and ensure accurate, timely and efficient operations and delivery of financial information to multiple constituencies. Proficient in financial systems, this person utilizes technology to improve financial reporting and improve business efficiencies. The Plant Controller manages the day-2-day Plant financials and works closely with Plant leaders and the Plant GM to ensure the location operates efficiently and in a financially responsible fashion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with the CFO to ensure the financial operations of the business.
  • Manages the General Ledger including the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for the facility
  • Leads the facility level monthly closing process, and monthly reporting to ensure all revenue and expenses are properly accounted for in the appropriate periods
  • Manages a team of finance professionals.
  • Ensures proper and accurate closing of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll Functions
  • Reviews and explains variances and partners with business unit leadership to lead operations reviews
  • Completes account analysis and account reconciliations
  • Leads the preparation of Financial Statements; coordinates and works closely with the external auditors as applicable
  • Monitors and analyzes inventory reporting and ensures accuracy of inventory valuation
  • Manages fixed asset activity including capital expenditure requests, justification analysis and post-purchase review
  • Partners with business unit leadership and the CFO to increase efficiency, profitability and to drive continuous improvement
  • Provides support to department managers in costing analysis which includes labor, material cost and overhead
  • Enforces the company’s Accounting and Financial policies and procedures; develops additional policies and procedures, as necessary
  • Implements the activities of the Plant Accounting to ensure the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements.
  • Oversees Accounts Receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all AR ageing components including billings, cash receipts application, etc;
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge.
  • Maintains systems and controls which verify the integrity of all processes and data, and enhance the Company’s value.
  • Completes other assignments as requested

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-5+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Plant/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting preferred.
  • Software knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
