Shipper Needed

Overview:

The Shipper reporting to the Converting Manager, is responsible for a variety of routine shipping and tasks including but not limited to pulling shipment of orders and loading. 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspect all inbound shipments or pallet, product, wrapping and labeling deficiencies and/or damage
  • Complete deficiency and/or damage mitigation prior to shipment.  Mitigation includes, but is not limited to:
    • Pallet wrapping
    • Replacement of damaged product
    • Pallet replacement
  • Report all deficiencies and/or damage to management on a daily and weekly basis
  • Reporting of deficiencies and/or damage will be conducted via email and should include photos
  • Ensure required bracing/dunnage is available and used to guarantee that shipped product arrives undamaged at the destination
  • Verify that all loads contain the correct product in the correct quantities prior to shipping
  • Verify that the load is properly labeled, and all documentation is correct prior to shipping
  • Report any undue delays to performance of duties so that appropriate steps may be taken to insure smooth flow of production
  • Perform safe and efficient equipment operation achieving targeted production goals
  • Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment and follow standardized work in a continuous improvement environment
  • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with other employees and management
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies rotating if necessary
  • Attend all safety meetings
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tools, and work area; keeps housekeeping a high priority

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Ability to understand verbal & written instructions in English including, but not limited to the ability to read and comprehend instruction manuals, instruction sheets, training manuals, and other verbal/computer-based training
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs repeatedly
  • Attention to Detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high speed environment and follow standardized work in a continuous improvement environment
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Must be able to wear all required personal safety equipment including eye protection, safety vest and ear protection

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain consistent quality in work performance for extended periods of time
  • Stand, walk, bend or reaching regularly for entire shift
  • Lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs repeatedly
  • Understand verbal & written instructions in English including, but not limited to the ability to read and comprehend instruction manuals, instruction sheets, training manuals, and other verbal/computer-based training
  • Read and comply with the Staples Stocked Routing Guide
  • Read and Comply with the Essendant Packaging, Labeling and Shipping Requirements Guide

Equipment Used:

  • Ability to operate equipment such as a Forklift
  • Ability to work under conditions that may require use of company provided person protective equipment
